4.Designand Construction
4.1 DC Power Jacksand Plugs will meet the design, construction, and physical
dimensions as defined by EIAJ RC-5320A and as specified in this document. In cases ofconflict
this document will take precedence.
4.2The Jack shell - shall be of a single piece design with 3 or more metal contact fingers at the Jack
opening,
for designs without a metal shell, 3 or more contact points internal to the
connector
body are
required. In either case the contact fingers will make substantial, stable electrical
contact (lowcontact resistance) to the Plug barrel.
The Plug
center contact - shall make contact to the Jack mating pin in 2 or
more places and shall
provide enough normal force to providecontinuous contact resistance of 10milli-ohm initial and
20milli-ohmmaximum after stress and under all operating conditions.
5.Materials (equivalent materials must be approved inwriting by CISCO)
Frame/Body- Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP), or
High temperature Polyamide (PA9T) or better, rated 94V-0, color-black. Regrind to be 25% or less. If alternate, better materials are used,
material strength, deflection temperatures, and flammability ratings must
exceed or equal that of these materials.
Plug Center Contact Spring - Phosphor Bronze,Alloy 510, Spring Temper or equivalent.
Jack
Spring Contact - Phosphor
Bronze, Alloy 510, Spring Temper or equivalent.
Jack Shell - Phosphor Bronze, Alloy 510,Spring Temper or brass with less than 40% zinc.
Other Jackterminals and Plug barrel – brass is acceptable with less than 40% zinc content
